Bournemouth defender and Chelsea target Dean Huijsen has provided an update on his future following a breakout season in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old Spanish international has been one of the Cherries’ standout performers this campaign, earning his first call-up to Spain’s national team and drawing interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring Huijsen, but according to TalkSPORT, a move within the Premier League is more likely – with Liverpool and Chelsea among the frontrunners.
Liverpool are said to view Huijsen as a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is up this summer. Chelsea, meanwhile, are keen to reinforce their back line with a player of Huijsen's composure and quality.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Huijsen remained calm about the speculation surrounding his future.
"I'm very calm," he said. "I don't really focus on it. Now is not the time. I’m just focused on finishing the season well."
He added that his father, who acts as his agent, handles off-field matters:"My dad is my agent, he fixes everything. I don't read anything, I don't think about it too much. I'm just focusing on my football and working hard."
When asked about his reported £50 million release clause, Huijsen again played it cool:"I'm just focused on making history at this club."

Bournemouth have surprised many this season under Andoni Iraola, currently sitting eighth in the Premier League – just six points behind sixth-placed Chelsea.
Huijsen has been a key factor in that success, ranking among Europe’s best for interceptions and clearances.
He’s also chipped in with important goals, including the winner in a 1-0 victory over Tottenham and another in Bournemouth’s 3-0 triumph against Manchester United in December.
Despite a recent dip in form, Huijsen remains confident the Cherries can still push for European qualification.
"We've got seven games to go, so there's more than enough time," he said. "Every team has these periods. Everything is still open, and we have everything to play for."
If Bournemouth do fall short in the race for Europe, the likelihood of Huijsen moving on will only grow – and there’s little doubt he’d be welcomed at Stamford Bridge with open arms.
